My Russian Progress: One Year Later

Hi Language Buddy!

I'm thrilled to share with you an update on my Russian language progress. It's been a whole year since I embarked on this journey, and I thought it would be valuable to chronicle my experience and the lessons I've learned along the way.

For those of you who might not know, I jumped into this endeavor with zero knowledge of Russian. I wanted to challenge myself as an older language learner and test my methodology of diving headfirst into lessons right from day one, supplemented by diligent self-study. Now, a year later, I'm excited to report that this approach has borne fruit!

These days, I find myself conducting my lessons almost entirely in Russian. Every now and then, I might need to inquire about the meaning or pronunciation of a new word, but apart from those brief instances, our exchanges unfold in Russian. It's a testament to the effectiveness of this method and the so-called "magical crossover" when you start to engage predominantly in the language you're learning. I feel like I've hit that milestone, and it's a thrilling achievement.

On the self-study front, I spend about four or five hours per week, give or take. I'm more than happy to share my go-to resources with those interested - there's a whole suite of excellent materials out there to aid your language learning journey. And of course, if you have any particular queries about the process or my experiences, don't hesitate to drop me a line.

The important takeaway here is that this method works, and it's one that I can vouch for through my personal experience over the past year. You might wonder, "Can I really make tangible progress by combining immediate lessons with self-study?" The answer is a resounding yes! It may be slow, it may be steady, but progress is progress. And remember, this is coming from someone who doesn't have an infinite amount of time to dedicate - just a regular Joe with everyday commitments.

So, if you're looking to elevate your language learning journey, know that there's a trove of resources, activities, and games available to help you. Let's keep breaking those language barriers, one word at a time!

Until next time, stay curious and keep popping those language bubbles.
