Hi Language Buddy!
I want to discuss the difference between how people who strive for excellence in everything they do approach learning a new skill for the first time, as opposed to amateurs or hobbyists.
One article by internet marketer Marie Forleo really caught my attention. She wrote about how professionals approach learning something new, like running a marathon. In one example, a successful marathon runner began by researching the right shoes to buy and seeking out an expert mentor to learn from.
This got me thinking about how we approach learning a new language. Instead of trying to come up with methods and ideas on your own, it's beneficial to look at people who have successfully learned languages and emulate their techniques. As someone who has learned eight languages and is currently learning a ninth, I can tell you that online language lessons are an indispensable part of the process.
Without the guidance of an experienced teacher, you miss out on the crucial feedback loop that helps you improve. Imagine taking years of piano lessons without a piano teacher: you might reinforce the same mistakes or lose interest. These undesirable outcomes can be avoided by having an experienced teacher to guide you.
So, keep this in mind as you continue on your language learning journey. Seek out expert guidance and embrace the value of learning from those who have already succeeded. Best of luck, and let's keep pushing forward!
